The Street Light Department of the Silvassa Municipal Corporation is responsible for ensuring well-lit streets and public spaces to enhance urban safety, mobility, and aesthetics. Adequate street lighting not only improves visibility for pedestrians and motorists but also helps reduce crime and encourages economic and social activity during nighttime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Expansion: Planning and installation of new street lights in developing areas, residential zones, and key public spaces.
- Operation & Maintenance: Regular inspection, repair, and replacement of faulty street lights and electrical components.
- Energy Efficiency: Promotion of LED and solar-powered street lighting systems to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
- Complaint Resolution: Quick response to public complaints regarding malfunctioning or damaged lights through the SMC grievance system.
- Smart Infrastructure: Integration of smart street lighting technologies with timers, sensors, and remote monitoring systems.

- Conversion of conventional lights to LED systems citywide.
